Never Underestimate

So because I live in a theater bubble, sometime I don't hear about what's actually going on in the world. Just found out about the earthquake in Chile and the aftershocks in Argentina, and about the tsunami warnings in Hawaii, California, Mexico and the Pacific Islands. Like I said, bubble!

This of course prompted an End-of-Days conversation with my roomie, which he is petrified of. I can't say that I feel the same way. I don't know if it's because I've watched too many 2012 programs on National Geographic or what, but I don't know, I just don't think that it's something that people should get worked up about. I definitely think that something, geologically or cosmically, is going to happen in 2012, but I don't know if it will end life as we know it, or it will be a day just like any other day. I know we're getting into one of those taboo topics that shouldn't be discussed at the dinner table, because it mixes all of those topics that people are so afraid of, but i don't know...I guess since there's nothing that we can do about it, or that we can change, or be notified in advance to deter, that we should just live life each day to the fullest and not stress about the future.

Summation of this post: Live life to the fullest, and my heart and prayers go out to the people of Chile, Argentina & Haiti. Never underestimate the awesome power that the planet we live on holds.

SNOW PLEASE

So at 7:00am tomorrow/today, our school will be notifying us as to whether or not we'll be having class or not. I am personally ALL IN FAVOR OF A SNOW DAY!! It's supposed to continually snow from tomorrow morning until Saturday afternoon (or something to that effect). If I don't have to go to class tomorrow and Friday, I will be one happy chica!! :)

In an effort to conjure as much Snow Day Good Karma as possible, here are some pictures from our last snow day!!

My Heart Will Go On And On...

How this movie fell out of my rotation, I will never know...

My roommate and I just revisited the epic disaster/love story that is Titanic, and I am IN LOVE!! I know it came out 13 years ago (yeah I was shocked when I did the math too!), but watching it in theaters as a nine year old was a completely different experience than watching it when I'm in my twenties! Seeing as I am now approximately the age that Leo and Kate were when they began shooting this movie (eek, I better jump start my career!), there is just SO MUCH MORE TO TAKE IN!!! I loved this movie back in 1997, I loved it when I was in middle school and high school, and now I am BEYOND LOVE!! It has all of the elements a great movie should! Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are giving such fantastic performances and have such amazing chemistry together!! I have so much respect for them as actors!

Along with my new-found-yet-not-so-new obsession with this movie, my roommate and I have also proceeded to download Celine Dion's anthology. Obviously along with a Titanic obsession, a Celine one shortly follows! :)

Here's some picture loving, because I can't help myself!!

And so it begins...

This past Wednesday and Thursday, we (my fabulous crew and myself) held auditions for The Vagina Monologues at my school. I'm the director (yay!) and it will be performed in our GINORMOUS, Off-Broadway theater!! I feel like I'm one of the only students to direct something in that space, which is super exciting!
Casting the show was probably one of the more challenging things I've ever had to do. SOOO many women auditioned (like 80, no joke, for a cast of 20), and I wish I could have cast them all, because they were so talented, but I'm super excited about the cast we picked! :)
Our readthrough is tomorrow, which I'm psyched about! Can't wait to get all of the girls in one room! I'm all about ensemble shows and cast bonding! :)

And what's even more exciting, is that we have our Cloud Nine read on WEDNESDAY!! I am SOOO EXCITED to start that show and work with Annie G(od) Levy herself!! Hahahahaha! My roomie is in the show as well, so I'll definitely have a subway buddy after late-night rehearsals! ;)

Basically...cannot wait for theater life to begin this semester!! It's gonna be GOOD! :D

"Failure"

Yup, it's official!

I got my first "F".

I mean, to be honest, it is completely my fault and not my professor's. I'm not going to play the blame game and accuse everybody but myself, because it's totally clear that it's my own damn fault.

(That doesn't mean I'm happy about it or proud of it...at all!)

My professor gave me an "Incomplete", which is exactly what it sounds like, but I didn't realize that there was a time limit on how long you could take to finish it. So I just so happened to check my grades from last semester for a different class, and what do you know, my "I" was now a big, fat, epic fail "F".

Ironically, I discovered my "F" while sitting in the library, trying to write this seven page paper that has been eluding me for so very long.

I mean, I'm still going to try and write this damn paper within the next few days, and I'm still going to turn it in, and maybe she will have mercy on me and at least give me a "D" or something...but she was a very "by the book" professor, so probably not.

Another fun fact, my first "F" in high school was also in my junior year, but I went to summer school and it was replaced with a nice, happy "A+". What's different now? I am NOT retaking that class again! You couldn't pay me enough!

Sigh. We'll see what happens I guess.
