Wise Words from Sir Joel

I don't know why I go walking at night
But now I'm tired and I don't want to walk anymore
I hope it doesn't take the rest of my life
Until I find what it is I've been looking for...

My Inner Fan-Girl...

Yes...my inner fan-girl has been slipping out more and more recently and I know why!  Two of the groups that have epitomized my life are back on tour!  The Backstreet Boys are coming to an amphitheater by my house in early June and I have NEVER seen them in concert, so this will be my first!  And Good Charlotte are coming to Portsmouth at the end of June and I am road tripping down there to see them for the NINTH time! (But who's counting?)

Also, as I was attempting to siesta today, I got a phone call from my cousins who are visiting my grandma in Florida saying that Benji and Joel Madden were sitting across from them in a mall food court eating Chick-fil-a!  I told her that they were super nice and that they should at least go and say hi!  About five minutes later I got a picture message of them with Benji!  It made me so happy!  They really are two of the sweetest guys on the planet!

This encounter only makes me more excited to see them in action again and to hear their new album that's coming out later this year!

My three beautiful cousins and Benji! <3

Summertime and the living is easy...

Finished my last final of Junior year today...soooo that technically means I am now a senior in college!

Wow...when did that happen?

Techincally I still have one more assignment that I'm finishing tomorrow, but I definitely had celebratory margaritas and Mr. Softee today! :)

So now it's the long-awaited SUMMER VACATION!! I'm spending the summer in my hometown, hopefully working A LOT and making a lot of MONEY!  That's the goal anyways...

Hopefully the summer will be filled with tons of DC/VA happenings to blog about!  I'm excited and ready!

This is kinda how the end of the school year feels...

Sit around and watch the tube, but nothing's on
Change the channels for an hour or two
Twiddle my thumbs just for a bit
I'm sick of all the same old shit
In a house with unlocked doors
And I'm fucking lazy

Bite my lip and close my eyes
Take me away to paradise
I'm so damn bored I'm going blind
And I smell like shit

Peel me off this velcro seat and get me moving
I sure as hell can't do it by myself
I'm feeling like a dog in heat
Barred indoors from the summer street
I locked the door to my own cell
And I lost the key

Bite my lip and close my eyes
Take me away to paradise
I'm so damn bored I'm going blind
And I smell like shit

I got no motivation
Where is my motivation?
No time for the motivation
Smoking my inspiration

Sit around and watch the phone, but no one's calling
Call me pathetic, call me what you will
My mother says to get a job
But she don't like the one she's got
When masturbation's lost its fun
You're fucking breaking

Bite my lip and close my eyes
Take me away to paradise
I'm so damn bored
I'm going blind
And loneliness has to suffice
Bite my lip and close my eyes
I was slipping away to paradise
Some say,"Quit or I'll go blind."
But it's just a myth

Time Flies

This fact is just starting to sink into my head...

I am going to be a senior in college this fall.
This is my last year in college.
I am technically an adult now.

Wow.
Weird.

We've come a long way baby...

Typical

So, as per usual, instead of doing the mountains of homework that I should be doing so my GPA doesn't go down the shitter and I can actually stay at school for my senior year...I'VE BEEN READING A BOOK!!

What are books, you may wonder?  Well they are these relatively small packets of soft paper that have typed words on them that make up stories that you can read...crazy!  The craziest thing about this book is that I don't have to read it for a class, but am actually doing this for leisure!!!

What is this book I am speaking of?  On the Road by Jack Kerouac!  :D
I've been wanting to read this book for years and I'm finally doing it!  I'm usually good at finishing novels within a span of a few days, but with school and such, it's taking me a little bit longer.  So far, I LOVE THIS BOOK!  I just want to read it instead of doing the 3+ papers I should be doing, or being on facebook, or doing this blog post...oh well!

Woof

Sorry for lack of blogging lately!  In the past month, I've worked on and put up Cloud Nine at school, went home for .2 seconds for Spring Break, got a haircut, pet-sat a puppy, visited family in Jersey, threw an Easter bash at my apt for cast & crew, drank more alcohol than I care to admit, had my roommate drown my laptop in rain water, miraculously dry out my laptop and have it make a full recovery, attempted to find a job in NYC and VA, and get offered an Assistant Directing/Understudying gig with my favorite director lady til June on an Equity Showcase production (HOLLA), acquired some strange shoulder injury that makes my right arm almost immobile, and done almost ZERO SCHOOL WORK! :D

Like I said...busy! :)

But I am back now and wanting to keep up with my bloggity-blog!  Summer is fast approaching and I'm trying to figure out my life, as usual!

Here is a cute picture to end this post:  Me with my baby cousin, Eliana

Busy

Sorry for lack of blogging this past week!  My life has been INSANELY BUSY!  I am but a day and a half away from Spring Break bliss...let's hope I make it to then alive! :/

So this will not be a negative blog post...so I leave you with something positive! :)

Thanks for getting rid of those snakes (and the pagans?) Lol!

Free is Good

In college, the word free is probably the greatest word you will ever hear!  Free admission to said event, free food in the Student Union, free laundry, free merchandise, buy one/get one free discounts, and then there is the best type of free...FREE PINKBERRY!

For those of you who don't know, Pinkberry is a frozen yogurt chain in NYC and it is DELISH!  So through the grapevine, I heard that there was an event going on at all the Pinkberry's in NYC introducing their new mango flavor.  FREE MANGO PINKBERRY?  Sign me up!!

So I took advantage of the system a little bit, and went to two different Pinkberry's, so I got two free samples! ;)

Despite the POURING RAIN and FREEZING WIND, this was definitely a good trip!

Freezing rain...

Free Mango Pinkberry with kiwi and blackberries?  Win! :)

Adorable!

Wait, just saw this and it is super cute!! :)

Philosophical at 3am

Why wouldn't I have these thought-provoking musings at 3am during Midterm week and the week I need to be memorizing my many many long monologues in Cloud Nine...

Do you ever just get the feeling that you want to be older, not like super old, but older? Just want to skip the bullshit and see what life looks like when you're settled and happy?

We did this exercise in rehearsal last evening where, since the characters progress 25 years, we all imagined what our lives would look like in 25 years! (Of course, these were a very kind 25 years where I wound up somehow with a successful acting career, a nice apartment in NYC and a house on the Almafi Coast where I had steamy love affairs with sexy Italian men, and I had a cute puppy!) We all shared our ideas and where we would all be in our mid-40's. It was definitely interesting!

I know it's because I'm an anxious 20-something in college, but I kind of just want to skip the bullshit and just be in that non-turmoil state (if I'm lucky enough to not be tumultous in my mid-40s).

I just think it would be interesting!

*End random existential musing*

EDIT: I found my puppy! :)

Inspiring

So although the Oscars were UBER LONG this year, and a little scatter-brained, and they forgot to honor Farrah Fawcett in the tribute, and that Miley Cyrus was there...I really enjoyed the broadcast. I was finding that in almost all of the main categories, I didn't have an absolute favorite and that I was going to be happy almost any way the results went. All in all, 2009 was an EXCELLENT year in cinema and film acting. Although people may disagree, there were several excellent films made last year and so many talented actors gave outstanding performances that needed to be honored with a nomination! History was also made with Kathryn Bigelow winning Best Director--she gave all of us female Directors inspiration. (And it was a bonus prize that she beat out her arrogant ex-husband James Cameron's kajillion dollar movie [with a less-than-original screenplay] in Best Director and Best Picture! You go girl!) Also, I was extremely proud of Sandra Bullock (alway thought she was an underrated actress!) and Jeff Bridges, Mo'Nique and Christoph Waltz. I really feel as though everyone who won an award was quite deserving!

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that the films and performances from all these movies are quite inspiring to aspiring actors, like myself. All the actors nominated gave such moving performances, it makes me want to perfect my craft and makes me proud to consider myself an actor. Although even my roommates have differing opinions about the Oscars, I found them to be quite enjoyable!

I feel like that post is a little scatter-brained, just like the awards show, but I'll just go with the excuse of "that's fitting since we just watched the Oscars". ;)

Summation: I love acting and I love actors and I love good actors and good movies! i want to do that for people! :)

Oh yeah, and here's part of Sandra's fantastic acceptance speech! I wish the part about her mother was included in it, because it made me tear up, but this part was just so great and shows how amazing, humble and deserving she is!

Ho bisogno di andare Italia adesso!

Si, va bene! Ho bisogno di andare Italia adesso! Everything I think about reminds me of Italy! I've seriously contemplated going to grad school for Art History just so I could have an excuse to live in Florence. (PS I know zilch about art history, other than the museums I went to in Italy lol!) My goal for 2010 is to learn how to speak Italian so I can go there and be a translator or something! It's kind of pathetic how desperately I want to go and live there, but at the same time, I know I'll find a way to make it over there, even if it's only for a year or two!

Aaahhhh ITALIAAAA!! Non posso vivere senza voi! Mi manchi!!!

Never Underestimate

So because I live in a theater bubble, sometime I don't hear about what's actually going on in the world. Just found out about the earthquake in Chile and the aftershocks in Argentina, and about the tsunami warnings in Hawaii, California, Mexico and the Pacific Islands. Like I said, bubble!

This of course prompted an End-of-Days conversation with my roomie, which he is petrified of. I can't say that I feel the same way. I don't know if it's because I've watched too many 2012 programs on National Geographic or what, but I don't know, I just don't think that it's something that people should get worked up about. I definitely think that something, geologically or cosmically, is going to happen in 2012, but I don't know if it will end life as we know it, or it will be a day just like any other day. I know we're getting into one of those taboo topics that shouldn't be discussed at the dinner table, because it mixes all of those topics that people are so afraid of, but i don't know...I guess since there's nothing that we can do about it, or that we can change, or be notified in advance to deter, that we should just live life each day to the fullest and not stress about the future.

Summation of this post: Live life to the fullest, and my heart and prayers go out to the people of Chile, Argentina & Haiti. Never underestimate the awesome power that the planet we live on holds.

SNOW PLEASE

So at 7:00am tomorrow/today, our school will be notifying us as to whether or not we'll be having class or not. I am personally ALL IN FAVOR OF A SNOW DAY!! It's supposed to continually snow from tomorrow morning until Saturday afternoon (or something to that effect). If I don't have to go to class tomorrow and Friday, I will be one happy chica!! :)

In an effort to conjure as much Snow Day Good Karma as possible, here are some pictures from our last snow day!!

My Heart Will Go On And On...

How this movie fell out of my rotation, I will never know...

My roommate and I just revisited the epic disaster/love story that is Titanic, and I am IN LOVE!! I know it came out 13 years ago (yeah I was shocked when I did the math too!), but watching it in theaters as a nine year old was a completely different experience than watching it when I'm in my twenties! Seeing as I am now approximately the age that Leo and Kate were when they began shooting this movie (eek, I better jump start my career!), there is just SO MUCH MORE TO TAKE IN!!! I loved this movie back in 1997, I loved it when I was in middle school and high school, and now I am BEYOND LOVE!! It has all of the elements a great movie should! Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are giving such fantastic performances and have such amazing chemistry together!! I have so much respect for them as actors!

Along with my new-found-yet-not-so-new obsession with this movie, my roommate and I have also proceeded to download Celine Dion's anthology. Obviously along with a Titanic obsession, a Celine one shortly follows! :)

Here's some picture loving, because I can't help myself!!

Why I Love Gaga

More GaGaliciousness!

She's so real and well-spoken!! (Cindy is a little crazy, but gotta love her!)

Tuesday, February 9, 2010

And so it begins...

This past Wednesday and Thursday, we (my fabulous crew and myself) held auditions for The Vagina Monologues at my school. I'm the director (yay!) and it will be performed in our GINORMOUS, Off-Broadway theater!! I feel like I'm one of the only students to direct something in that space, which is super exciting!
Casting the show was probably one of the more challenging things I've ever had to do. SOOO many women auditioned (like 80, no joke, for a cast of 20), and I wish I could have cast them all, because they were so talented, but I'm super excited about the cast we picked! :)
Our readthrough is tomorrow, which I'm psyched about! Can't wait to get all of the girls in one room! I'm all about ensemble shows and cast bonding! :)

And what's even more exciting, is that we have our Cloud Nine read on WEDNESDAY!! I am SOOO EXCITED to start that show and work with Annie G(od) Levy herself!! Hahahahaha! My roomie is in the show as well, so I'll definitely have a subway buddy after late-night rehearsals! ;)

Basically...cannot wait for theater life to begin this semester!! It's gonna be GOOD! :D

"Failure"

Yup, it's official!

I got my first "F".

I mean, to be honest, it is completely my fault and not my professor's. I'm not going to play the blame game and accuse everybody but myself, because it's totally clear that it's my own damn fault.

(That doesn't mean I'm happy about it or proud of it...at all!)

My professor gave me an "Incomplete", which is exactly what it sounds like, but I didn't realize that there was a time limit on how long you could take to finish it. So I just so happened to check my grades from last semester for a different class, and what do you know, my "I" was now a big, fat, epic fail "F".

Ironically, I discovered my "F" while sitting in the library, trying to write this seven page paper that has been eluding me for so very long.

I mean, I'm still going to try and write this damn paper within the next few days, and I'm still going to turn it in, and maybe she will have mercy on me and at least give me a "D" or something...but she was a very "by the book" professor, so probably not.

Another fun fact, my first "F" in high school was also in my junior year, but I went to summer school and it was replaced with a nice, happy "A+". What's different now? I am NOT retaking that class again! You couldn't pay me enough!

Sigh. We'll see what happens I guess.

I must be Chicken Little...

BECAUSEEEEEE...

Going to school in New York City has several benefits: great location, lots of fun & exciting things to do, great job and networking opportunities, and, of course, having classes cancelled due to "The New York City Fire Department [closing] many streets south of 1 Pace Plaza because high winds are blowing debris from the construction site adjacent to 1 Pace Plaza."

Yay for debris falling from the sky!!! Haha!
So what shall I do on this lovely, monsoon-y, windy day?

It's Like the Super Bowl for Actors!

So the Golden Globes were on tonight! I personally enjoy the Golden Globes more than the Oscars because they are far more relaxed and you can see the actors, directors, writers, producers, etc. acting like regular human beings! The Oscars are so prestigious (not that that's a bad thing!) and everybody is so nervous and straight-laced. The Golden Globes...well, you have Ricky Gervais hosting (hilarious!), hilarious acceptance speeches (RDJr), as well as recognizing some of the most amazing performances by the most talented people in Hollywood. Very exciting!

This year was the first year in a while were I had actually seen almost every movie and TV show nominated, so I was really into the show! I'm not going to give a play-by-play of all the awards and my opinions on them, but I was not disappointed by anything! Meryl Streep was fantastic and inspiring as always, Mo'Nique made me cry, Robert Downey Jr. was hilarious, Sandra Bullock and Drew Barrymore were amazing, Martin Scorsese's speech reminded me why I want to be in this crazy profession. Overall, a great night for film and television!! :)

And just to add to my little obsession: VIDEOS! :)

The Proposal! (Makes me melt!)

The Wedding!! (Yeah, I cried a little...lol!)

Route 7

So after finally finishing "Autobiography of Red" at Algonkian Park, I decided to high-tail it out west on Route 7 and just see where it would take me. It was still light out on the way there and for most of the way back. I drove 40 miles each way, just to see how far Route 7 actually was. After about 3-4 different name changes for one two-lane road, I wound up in Winchester. Route 7 continued on past where I drove, but it wasn't titled Route 7 anymore (so it doesn't count!). There was potential to continue on I-81, but the mountains are prettier in the daylight, so I decided to head back east. On the way there and back, I saw lots of cows, horses, barns, silos, and roadkill.

The moral of this story...I miss driving in my car! :(

Re-Vamped for 2010

Hey Anybody That May Read This,

New Look. New Year. New Blog. New New New!

I am making a conscious effort to start writing in here again! New Years Resolution kinda!
